With headquarters in the same New York City location more than 60 years, moving to a new office was a big event for the law firm of Cahill Gordon & Reindel — and just the type of challenge Henegan has been expertly embracing for its clients for as many years.
Cahill’s new modern and elegant offices were built on six (6) contiguous floors over approximately 200,000 square feet at 32 Old Slip in New York’s financial district. Each floor includes European imported perimeter metal and glass office fronts, focus and conference rooms, and administrative tech support spaces. Construction also included new ADA restrooms, Mailroom, Café, Pantry Areas, and IDF Rooms to technologically link each floor and Cahill offices worldwide. High-level design features include recessed LED cove lighting, fabric wrapped panels, porcelain floor tile and concrete feature walls. The new brightly lit interiors and common spaces provide expansive views of Brooklyn, the East River, and New York Harbor. Core elevator lobbies and bathrooms were renovated to reflect Cahill’s state-of-the-art new head office.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced the project to suspend operations in March of 2020 just as it was well underway. Cahill was a gracious client as Henegan had to accommodate three months of total shut-down, delayed material availability, and an overall productivity slowdown flowing from health concerns as well as newly-instituted worker, jobsite, base building, and community health and safety protocols. Nevertheless, Henegan was honored to receive the thanks and praise of Cahill, their Owner’s Representative Craven, and the Gensler & Cosentini Design Team for a project well-done.
